Who we are

250,000 children are reported missing in Europe every year - one every two minutes. Missing Children Europe's mission is to develop cross-border solutions for the prevention of child disappearances and the protection of sexually exploited children.

As the European Federation for Missing and Sexually Exploited Children, we enable 27 grass root organizations in 22 European Countries to support cases of child disappearances and child sex exploitation.

Monitoring & certification system for 116 000 hotlines

By taking part in the golf competition or by making a donation on this occasion, you will support the Missing Children Europe team to work on a project which will help monitor and certify the quality of services provided by 116 000 hotlines.

The 116 000 hotline is a European number through which families confronted with a child's disappearance, as well as children running away from home/institutions, can get free emotional, psychological, social, legal and administrative support. It is a service that works complementary to law enforcement, and helps runaway kids and families of missing children during the extremely stressful event of a child's disappearance. The hotline is already operational in 23 EU Member States.

A new project developed by MCE aims at monitoring the quality of the services provided by each hotline and evaluating it against the criteria set out in a Practical Guide for hotline operators. A certification system will make it possible to assess the work of the hotlines through an objective and self-sustainable evaluation system. Ultimately, it will help improve the quality of the service offered to children and their families when confronted with the trauma of the disappearance of a child.
